CURRICULUM 7-13 years old

1. Communication: Oral, Written and non-verbal

  Language Exploration

  • Exposure to diverse read and listened texts from a variety of literature, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and plays in order to expand the understanding and appreciation of language.

  • Oral storytelling sessions and group activities where the children can practice narrative skills, creativity, and effective communication.

  • Language analysis to understand the usage of non-verbal language such as punctuation, intonation, body language and their importance in oral as well as written communication.

 

  Written Communication

  • Engage in creative writing, such as storytelling, poetry, short stories, or dialogues. Foster their imagination, encourage experimentation with different writing techniques, and provide feedback to enhance their writing abilities.

  • Discover the different writing styles: expository, descriptive, persuasive, and narrative.

 

  Oral Communication

  • Discussions and Debates: Organize regular discussions or debates where learners can express their opinions, listen actively to others, and develop effective argumentation skills. Encourage respectful dialogue, active listening, and the ability to support viewpoints with evidence.

  • Give presentations and engage in group speaking activities, such as outloud reading and storytelling, to help them build confidence and develop the ability to deliver messages in a coherent manner.

 

  Non-Verbal

Improvisational Theatre for the children to learn how to express themselves in a context where they are communicating both verbally and non-verbally in spontaneous unrehearsed situations.

 

2. Basic Mathematics

  Arithmetic Fundamentals

  • Develop a solid understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division involving hands-on manipulatives, mental math exercises, and real-life problem-solving scenarios.

  • Build number sense by exploring concepts such as place value, estimation, rounding, measuring, comparing quantities and proportionality.

 

  Geometry Exploration

  • Shapes and Figures: Introduce learners to various shapes, their properties, and classifications. Encourage hands-on exploration through activities such as creating shapes using geometric manipulatives or identifying geometric shapes in the environment.

  • Spatial reasoning skills by engaging in activities that involve spatial visualization, mental rotation, and understanding spatial relationships. This can include puzzles, tangrams, mapping, or designing 2D and 3D structures.

 

  Practical Applications

  • Opportunities to apply arithmetic and geometry concepts to solve real-life problems. This can include tasks like calculating distances, finding areas and perimeters of objects, or analyzing data sets. Encourage critical thinking and creativity in problem-solving approaches.

  • Explore mathematical concepts in depth through open-ended investigations and projects to develop curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

 

3. Musical awakening fundamentals and creative storytelling

  Musical Storytelling on the Piano

Encourage children to create their own musical stories on the piano. Help them explore dynamics, tempo changes, and expressive playing to convey different moods and characters. Encourage them to improvise and experiment with melodies and harmonies.

 

  Piano Technique and Skill Development

Provide guidance on proper piano technique, including posture, hand position, and finger dexterity. Offer age-appropriate exercises and studies to develop technical skills and coordination. Encourage regular practice on-site to build proficiency and confidence.

 

  Introduction to Notation

Introduce children to music notation, starting with simple concepts like note names, rhythms, and musical symbols. Help them understand how to read and interpret sheet music for piano. Gradually introduce more complex notation as they progress.

 

  Exploration of Piano Repertoire

  • Expose children to a variety of piano repertoire from different musical periods and styles. Introduce them to simplified versions of classical piano pieces suitable for their level. Encourage them to choose pieces they are interested in learning and provide resources to support their practice.

  • Performance Opportunities

  • Organize recitals or gatherings where children can showcase their piano skills. Create a supportive and encouraging environment where they can share their progress and gain confidence in performing for others.

 

4. Movement and Rhythm

5. Visual Arts Awakening

  Pencil Drawing

  • Introduction to Pencil Techniques: fundamental pencil strokes, shading, depth and texture techniques to bring sketches to life.

  • Observational Drawing: Hone observation skills and attention to detail by capturing the world around them.

  • Expressive Drawing: Encourage imaginative expression through doodling, sketch journaling, and character creation.

 

  Painting

  • Introduction to Painting Techniques: Develop essential painting skills, brushwork, form, color, line, texture and depth.

  • Observational Painting: Hone observation skills and attention to detail by capturing the world around them.

  • Creative Expression: Encourage self-expression and imagination

 

6. Nature, Health and Nutrition

  Nature Exploration

  • Outdoor Learning: We will hold classes outdoors in order to explore and connect with nature regularly.

  • Nature walk, gardening, and observing wildlife foster an appreciation for the natural world.

 

  Health and Nutrition Education

  • Lectures for parents: We will hold health and nutrition lectures for parents given by a Holistic Nutritionist.

  • Food Preparation: Hands-on experience in food preparation

 

  Holistic Well-being

  • Physical Activities: Learners engage in various physical activities, promoting an active lifestyle and understanding the significance of exercise.

  • Sleep and Rest: Emphasizing the importance of sufficient sleep and rest for optimal health and cognitive function.
